Husk 02:51
Some days I watch you go Down in husks of flame Burned from the tension of The mention of a name And every hidden ember of Every bruise and scar Bursts into flame again Like an old and dying star Sometimes I wonder if You'll ever burn away Like a comet tail In brilliant array You with your dying star The light trickles out of you Faced with this death I guess I'd rather go down in flames too I watch your dying star The light trickles out of you Faced with this death I guess I'll go down in flames with you

She makes wear a bell So when I sneak up behind She can listen for the knell And sneak away in time In her sneakers, for sneaking Sneakers, for sneaking away Sneaking around takes its toll I never wore no steel toes Felt every step of burning coal She dances in heels, but everybody knows She wears sneakers, for sneaking Sneakers, for sneaking away

All the walls in all the world are falling down Is this love, is this hate Ignore the lion at the gates Listen to his roar, as the raindrops pour All the playbills on this street Are falling down like sodden leaves The puddles are all six feet deep Don't these rain clouds ever sleep? Listen to his roar, as the raindrops pour If you built yourself a wooden horse And left it at my door, of course I'd let it in, no questions asked For a chance to see your equine mask We listen to him roar, as the raindrops pour All the walls in all the world are falling down All the stars in all the skies All the tears in all the eyes Are falling down Listen to his roar, as the raindrops pour In all the hearts in all the world are breaking down Listening to his roar, as the raindrops pour

You fade by degrees All I've left are these Brown pickled parts Like artichoke hearts Your smile is wilted down You wear a gilded frown The unraveling starts Like artichoke hearts I couldn't quite place The difference in your face Then I noticed your eyes Were quiet as stone Your eyes which shimmered like a school of silverfish Are quiet as stone You fade by degrees All I've left are these Brown pickled parts Like artichoke hearts You're quiet as stone And rigid as bone The unraveling starts Like artichoke hearts You fade by degrees...

about

Like my forefathers, this is me abandoning the punk sound for more of a new wave sound. Which I'd then abandon for the dreaded singer-songwriter "unplugged" sound. The new wave sound would return later from time to time. This wasn't an "official" commercial release, it was a CD-R I gave away to friends at my 30th birthday party.
