Inspired by the Shangri-Las song "Train From Kansas City", or the Superchunk cover of it (which I always liked the homoerotic, gender swap aspect of).

Anyway, spoiler alert, instead of being about an old flame arriving by train, it's the object of a secret admirer's affection leaving for college on one. I love the reveal when it turns out she isn't even single, as that makes the story much richer and more poignant. And a little sinister, the idea of this guy watching this couple at the station saying their farewells from afar. Maybe he's hidden behind the magazine stand. What a creeper.
